resource efficient working

Resource-efficient working is a modern, fancy-sounding name for what’s really a very old-fashioned principle. We don’t like throwing stuff away – we’d much rather reuse it, or recycle it. We’re big on conserving energy, and we try not to use more of anything than we need. Waste not want not.

Our equipment

  • All our equipment is WEEE compliant and is carefully disposed of by our suppliers
  • Where possible it’s built from recyclable materials. Up to 95% of machine components are recycled at the end of their working life
  • We search out energy-efficient equipment – like machines with vacuum boilers and energy-saving modes

Our local customer service centres

  • Each of our centres has a Green Team member working to reduce our carbon footprint
  • We’ve introduced recycling bins and save-a-cup scheme in each centre
  • We’re switching to recycled stationery and paper, and eventually hope to reduce the amount of paper we use to almost nothing

Our vehicles

  • Our fleet is made up of new, regularly serviced, diesel vehicles, fitted with driving-speed regulators for better fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions
  • Soon, we hope to introduce hybrid and eco vehicles into the fleet
  • All our drivers complete regular safety-awareness training to continually improve their driving techniques

The shirts on our backs

Lastly, our polo-shirts and sweatshirts are made from organic materials – not just because it’s better for the environment, but also because it shows we care. We’re looking forward to the day when the rest of our uniform catches up.
